D ec 1 99 5 Final state effects on superfluid 4 He in the deep inelastic regime
نویسندگان
چکیده
A study of Final State Effects (FSE) on the dynamic structure function of superfluid 4 He in the Gersch–Rodriguez formalism is presented. The main ingredients needed in the calculation are the momentum distribution and the semidiagonal two–body density matrix. The influence of these ground state quantities on the FSE is analyzed. A variational form of ρ 2 is used, even though simpler forms turn out to give accurate results if properly chosen. Comparison to the experimental response at high momentum transfer is performed. The predicted response is quite sensitive to slight variations on the value of the condensate fraction, the best agreement with experiment being obtained with n 0 = 0.082. Sum rules of the FSE broadening function are also derived and commented. Finally, it is shown that Gersch–Rodriguez theory produces results as accurate as those coming from other more recent FSE theories.

The perturbative QCD predictions concerning deep inelastic scattering at low x are summarized. The theoretical framework based on the leading log 1/x resumma-tion and k t factorization theorem is described. The role of studying final states in deep inelastic scattering for revealing the details of the underlying dynamics at low x is emphasised and some dedicated measurements, like deep inelasti...

We estimate the contribution of inelastic nucleon excitations to the (e, e ′) inclusive cross section in the CEBAF kinematic range. Calculations are based upon parameter-izations of the nucleon structure functions measured at SLAC. Nuclear binding effects are included in a vector-scalar field theory, and are assumed have a minimal effect on the nucleon excitation spectrum. We find that for q < ...

It has been shown that the Boltzmann equation for the viscosity of the A-phase of superfluid 3He at low temperatures has the same form as for a normal Ferrni liquid. The viscosity coefficients A, B, C, D and E are derived exactly. The h , parameter plays an important role in determining the temperature dependence of the viscosity coefficients

I review the ways that have been proposed to measure the quark transversity distribution in the nucleon. I then explain a proposal, developed by Xuemin Jin, Jian Tang and myself, to measure transversity through the final state interaction between two mesons (ππ, KK, or πK) produced in the current fragmentation region in deep inelastic scattering on a transversely polarized nucleon.
